Once upon a time, a person discovered that when you mixed sugar and fried dough, magic happened. He invented the donut, and our waistlines have been paying the price ever since. If you love donuts, it’s worth making a visit to City Limits.
I live in north Edmond, and there’s a certain lack of restaurants and stores out where I am. Over the last couple of years, though, the area around Waterloo and Broadway has grown tremendously. City Limits just opened there within the last few weeks, and I made my first visit there yesterday.
One of my friends, who’s a little bit of a donut aficionado, described them as a happy medium between the barely-there nothingness of Krispy Kreme and the slightly heavier donuts of Full Cup. This describes it pretty well, I think.
The donut holes above were my purchase today. They were delicious — a hint of the fried taste you associate particularly with Krispy Kreme, slightly crispy glaze, and a great balance on the consistency of the dough. I don’t know if I’ll go here every day, for fear I’d eat their entire stock and wind up with a gut like a beach ball, but I’ll definitely be coming back.
Check out City Limits at 251 E. Waterloo Rd from 5AM-12PM. They have a Facebook page up right now, but the owner told me the Twitter feed isn’t up yet. I’ll follow them on my account when they go live, so keep checking back and I’ll let you know when that happens.
